“Julie was the right choice for us and has worked very hard on our behalf to create for us a beautiful home that we love.”
“Julie has gotten along with everyone on the job. She has always been professional and even spends time on the weekend to work or meet with you if you need her.”
“Julie and I instantly hit it off. She and I walked the house many times and she listened to my thoughts/ideas. She came up with some great ideas and then put my ideas in them as well. She wasn’t upset it I didn’t like something and worked to find a way to give me what I wanted. At times I didn’t understand architectural terminology or design ideas (especially when it came to our odd roof/ceiling lines) and Julie always explained things in a way to me that I understood. I have sat in on meetings with Julie and the rest of the team since that time and Julie always makes sure that the “look” of the house is kept in tact – for example when meeting with the man who is building my beams, she made sure that the beams finished into the walls in a way that I would like and not as originally had been suggested.”
I am delighted with the plans for our new home. I am very happy with Julie’s work for us and I value Julie’s ideas and opinion. When the house is finally finished I would be very happy to continue seeing Julie as a friend.
“Julie works very well with the contractor and made sure he got the plans that he needed for all the different aspects of building. She made sure he stayed on track at the initial meetings and always kept me informed of what was happening with minutes from their meetings. She worked with the structural engineer as well and managed to push him along to give us final information so that we could make our submittals to DRB. Julie would stand up for my design ideas at meeting with the contractor to make sure the builder understood what look I was trying to go for – and a couple of times she noticed that some framing had been done incorrectly (on a ceiling bathroom for example) and immediately got his team to correct it.”
“Julie has had to deal with all the paperwork and stress of meeting the Beaver Creek Design Review Board!! It is a very lengthy and stressful process but she always stayed true to our vision and has always acted in a professional manner. There is a lot of paper work involved in a DRB meeting and I think this is the only time I found it would have been nice if Julie had an assistant to help her with it all.”
“We love everything about our house! There isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t comment on how happy we are with it.”
To whom it may concern,
It gives me great pleasure to write this unsolicited letter of recommendation for Julie Spinnato of Studio Spinnato. When I bought my vacation home in Vail in 2009, I always knew that there would have to be changes made to open up my views of the mountains from the main floor living space. What I did not know is how to navigate through the approval process. I found out that Town of Vail has very particular approval steps. This presented a logistical challenge for me since I live on the East coast. I built many homes and done numerous remodels, but never from 1500 miles away.It became very clear to me that I needed to find someone local who is not only well versed in the process, but also will be easy to work with.
After an extensive interview process I hired Julie Spinnato. Her calm, confident, easy going professional demeanor was refreshing and reassuring. As it turns out, this was the best decision I made on my entire project. From day one Julie had an in depth understanding of the ultimate goals of this remodel. It became evident to me that she had a complete grasp of all the nuances that each trait will have to bring to the table in order to get everything done correctly. Julie handled everything needed for approvals – my development’s Home Owners Association, the Town of Vail Design Review Board, and the materials selection.
If all she did on this project was the designs and the approvals, I would have been very happy, but where she went above and beyond was invaluable. She recommended an Engineer, the builder, the window manufacturer, went to the library and looked at archives, met with the Town officials, and followed up by visiting weekly visits to the site during construction.
In the end I ended up with a final product that I could not be happier with. The builder Julie recommended brought the job in on budget, and under time. That is unheard of in this day and age in Vail. 6 weeks before construction was to begin, while I was riding up the lift in Sun Up bowl Julie called me and told me that she just found out that original window manufacturer we selected had changed their design, and the look we were looking for was going to be compromised. By the time I got home after skiing that day, Julie found a different manufacturer. She was able to email everything to them, and got a bid back that saved me 10%, and achieve the look we designed. I was thoroughly impressed, and I do not get impressed often.
If you are looking to hire an Architect or a designer for your project I recommend you use Julie Spinnato. Her knowledge, work ethic, attention to detail and personal pride in my project can not be understated. In my humble opinion you can not do better than Julie for your project.
Sincerely
Dr. Alex Rockwell
